Sunday 7-14-13 Sharking at "The Star"

Took Vin Mac and Barry out for a day of shark fishing. Decided to go a 7 degree break just east and south of the "Star" down behind the Vineyard.  Left Falmouth late, around 8am, due to the heavy fog that morning. Stopped near the "Hooter" om the way out, deployed the Spider umbrella tube rigs, and scored some live bluefish. Put a few in the livewell and off we went in search of the break..

We found our spot with many mini temp breaks and got to the warm side with a plan to drift with the west wind in to the colder water. We had a nice 10know breeze which got us about a .7 know drift. Perfect. Nick, our mate, got the tuna carcasses into the water, cut a bunch of bait for the chum bag and got our slick started. Conditions looked real good. We had alot of birds working the area along with the minirips you get associated with temp breaks and weed lines.

We put live bluefish out first and got him well away from the boat. Second we put a nice chunk of bunker on our Rigged and Ready shark rigs and out that went with a balloon about 20 feet deep..Then we put our third set up out with an 8 ounce weight and sent that down to the bottom and reeled up a few cranks.

Now all we need was some action. Everything was cooperating. After about three hours we see our first fin....but to no avail. It did not like what we were offering. We had a slick about two miles long by the time we decided to pull up and call it a day. This is why its called fishing. Sometimes you just cant things to go your way.

Great to have the "Hingham" boys out!
